As for your question about why teenagers read less than their parents did, I think there are a few reasons. First, screens are everywhere: short videos, games, and social media grab our attention and make it harder to focus on long texts. Second, school schedules and extracurriculars leave less quiet time, so reading often gets pushed to weekends or holidays. Third, many teens associate books with homework rather than pleasure, which can kill the curiosity that reading needs.

About my own taste in books, I’m pretty eclectic. I enjoy mysteries and thrillers for the twists, fantasy when I want to escape into new worlds, and contemporary novels that feel close to real life. I also read non-fiction — mainly popular science and biographies — because I like learning how things work and what shaped interesting people. Recently I’ve been into short story collections, too; they’re perfect when I don’t have much time but still want a complete, thought-provoking read.
