Past Simple (The Past Indefinite) — это время для действий, которые произошли в прошлом и уже закончились (часто есть слова-маркеры: yesterday, last week, ago, in the evening и т. п.).

Правило образования Past Simple

1. Утвердительные предложения

• Правильные глаголы: V + -ed
  work → worked, listen → listened, watch → watched

• Неправильные глаголы: 2-я форма (нужно запомнить)
  go → went

2. Отрицательные предложения

• did not (didn’t) + V (1-я форма)
  didn’t go, didn’t work
  (после didn’t глагол всегда в начальной форме!)

3. Вопросительные предложения

• Did + подлежащее + V (1-я форма)?
  Did mother work…?
  (после did тоже только начальная форма)

Вставляем глаголы в Past Simple

My friend (not to go) to the library yesterday, he (to go) to the cinema.
✅ My friend didn’t go to the library yesterday, he went to the cinema.

• didn’t go — отрицание в Past Simple (didn’t + V1)

• went — неправильный глагол go → went

In the evening the boys (to listen) to the music and (to watch) TV.
✅ In the evening the boys listened to the music and watched TV.

• listen → listened (правильный глагол + -ed)

• watch → watched (правильный глагол + -ed)

The little girl (to cry) a little then (to smile).
✅ The little girl cried a little then smiled.

• cry → cried (если глагол оканчивается на согласная + y, то y → i + ed)

• smile → smiled (если есть немая e на конце, добавляем только -d)

Mother (to work) in the kitchen? - Yes, she …. .
✅ * Did mother work in the kitchen? — Yes, she did.*

• вопрос: Did + mother + work (V1)?

• короткий ответ: Yes, she did.

She (to wash) the dishes and (to look) very tired.
✅ She washed the dishes and looked very tired.

• wash → washed (обычное -ed)

• look → looked (обычное -ed)
