It was a dark and stormy night. I was walking home alone through the empty streets. The wind howled, and the rain lashed against my face. Suddenly, I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around, but no one was there. My heart began to race.

I quickened my pace, but the footsteps grew louder. I started to run, my breath coming in short gasps. I ducked into an alley, hoping to lose whoever was following me. The alley was pitch black, and I could hear the sound of dripping water. Then, a cold hand touched my shoulder.

I screamed and spun around. A figure stood before me, its face hidden in shadow. It whispered my name in a voice that sounded like dead leaves rustling. I tried to run, but my legs wouldn't move. The figure stepped closer, and I could smell the stench of decay.

I closed my eyes, praying for it to end. When I opened them, the figure was gone. But as I stumbled out of the alley, I saw that same shadowy figure waiting for me under the streetlight. It smiled, and I knew I would never escape.
