What is the short form of 'was not' and 'were not'?

We use was and were to talk about the past. They are past forms of the verb to be.

• was is used with I, he, she, it: I was at home. She was tired.
• were is used with you, we, they: You were late. They were happy.

The short form of was not is wasn't.

The short form of were not is weren't.
