  2. I enjoyed the evening yesterday. The party was far more interesting than I expected.

  3. You’re walking too fast. Could you walk a bit more slowly?

  4. The problem was much more serious than we thought at first.

  5. This box is too small. I need something much bigger.

  6. I’m afraid her illness is much more complicated than it seems.

  7. It’s a lot easier to study Geography travelling, not just reading books.

  8. I thought she was older than me, but in fact she’s slightly younger.

Здесь much, far, a lot, a bit, slightly усиливают или смягчают сравнительную степень:

  • much / far / a lot + comparative: намного, гораздо
    much bigger, far more interesting, a lot easier.

  • a bit / slightly + comparative: немного, чуть-чуть
    a bit happier, slightly younger.

  • than ставится, когда есть сравнение с другим предметом, человеком или ожиданием:
    more interesting than I expected; younger than me.
