2. I was playing tennis on the court yesterday at 5 o’clock.

3. George and Jane were cycling in the park from 5 pm to 7 pm.

4. Kim was dribbling quickly when Ted got the ball yesterday.

5. I was rolling the ball when David fell down at the last game.

6. Fred and Sam were hiking for an hour when it started to rain a day ago.

Почему так:

• Past Simple используется для законченного действия в прошлом: did, got, fell down, started.

• Past Continuous используется для действия, которое происходило в определённый момент или длилось в прошлом: was playing, were cycling, was dribbling, was rolling, were hiking.

• В предложениях с when обычно длительное действие ставится в Past Continuous, а более короткое событие, которое произошло во время него, — в Past Simple.
