Task 4. Hobbies and Leisure

A hobby is an activity that people do in their free time because they enjoy it. For me, a hobby is a way to relax, learn something new, and forget about everyday problems. It helps people feel happier and more confident.

There are many different hobbies. Some people enjoy reading books, drawing, dancing, singing, cooking, or taking photos. Others prefer active hobbies such as swimming, cycling, playing football, or travelling. Nowadays, many teenagers also like playing computer games, making videos, learning foreign languages, and listening to music.

People have hobbies because they need rest after school or work. Hobbies can also help people develop useful skills. For example, reading improves vocabulary and imagination, while sport makes people stronger and healthier. Creative hobbies, such as painting or playing a musical instrument, help people express their feelings.

I think the most popular hobbies among girls are dancing, drawing, listening to music, taking photos, and watching films. Among boys, popular hobbies are often football, computer games, cycling, and other sports. However, hobbies do not really depend on whether a person is a girl or a boy. Everyone can choose an activity that is interesting and enjoyable for them.

In my opinion, having a hobby is very important because it makes life more colourful and enjoyable.
