1. The Summer Garden is one of the oldest and most famous parks of St. Petersburg. Many visitors come to this place on the bank of the Neva to see its marble statues and the monument to I.A. Krylov. (Продолжение текста)

The Summer Garden was founded by Peter the Great in 1704. It was designed as a regular garden in the European style, with straight paths, fountains and beautiful sculptures. In the 18th century it became a favourite place for walks and meetings of the Russian aristocracy. The marble statues that decorate the garden were brought from Italy and represent ancient gods, heroes and mythological characters.

One of the most interesting monuments in the Summer Garden is the monument to the famous Russian fabulist Ivan Krylov. It was created by the sculptor Peter Klodt and opened in 1855. The sides of the monument are decorated with figures of animals from Krylov’s famous fables.

Today the Summer Garden is a peaceful and beautiful place where people can enjoy nature, art and the history of St. Petersburg. Its old trees, canals, fountains and sculptures make it one of the most attractive parks in the city.
