The California Zephyr (USA)

The California Zephyr is one of the most famous and beautiful railways in the United States. It starts in Chicago, Illinois, and finishes in Emeryville, California, near San Francisco.

The train travels about 3,924 kilometres (2,438 miles) across the country. The whole journey takes around 51 hours and 20 minutes, so passengers spend more than two days on the train.

During the trip, people can see many amazing landscapes. The railway passes through the Great Plains, the Rocky Mountains, the Colorado River valley, the Sierra Nevada mountains, and beautiful deserts. Passengers can enjoy views of forests, rivers, mountains, and wide open spaces.

The unusual thing about the California Zephyr is that it is considered one of the most scenic train journeys in North America. The train goes through areas that are difficult to reach by car and has large windows that allow passengers to see the spectacular scenery. It is not just a way to travel — it is a memorable adventure across the USA.
