Exercise 10. Use the adjectives in the correct order.

Оценочные прилагательные (opinion adjectives) выделены круглыми скобками — их нужно обвести кружком. Фактические прилагательные (fact adjectives) подчёркнуты.

1. It's a (fantastic), new, metal washing machine.

2. It's a (beautiful), old, green fridge.

3. It's a (cute), little, red, plastic hair dryer.

4. It's a (nice), small, blue, metal tablet.

5. It's a (cool), yellow, plastic calculator.

Объяснение

В английском языке прилагательные обычно располагаются в следующем порядке:

Opinion → Size → Age → Shape → Colour → Origin → Material → Purpose → Noun

То есть:

  1. Opinion (мнение): fantastic, beautiful, cute, nice, cool.

  2. Size (размер): little, small.

  3. Age (возраст): new, old.

  4. Colour (цвет): green, red, blue, yellow.

  5. Material (материал): metal, plastic.

Важно: оценочные прилагательные обычно ставятся перед фактическими. Например, правильно говорить a beautiful old green fridge, а не a beautiful green old fridge.

Таким образом, правильные последовательности:

  1. fantastic, new, metal

  2. beautiful, old, green

  3. cute, little, red, plastic

  4. nice, small, blue, metal

  5. cool, yellow, plastic
