1. Simon Dale built the Hobbit House because he wanted a cheap, ecological home for his family and wanted to live close to nature.

2. He built it in Wales, in a woodland area.

3. It took about four months to build and cost about £3,000.

4. They used natural and recycled materials: wood from the local area, straw bales, mud, stone and reused materials.

5. They get heating from a wood burner, electricity from solar panels, light from windows and a skylight, and water from a nearby spring.

6. Simon Dale says he wants to live simply, close to nature, and with little harm to the environment.
