I think parents should be strict, but not too strict. Children need rules because rules help them stay safe and learn responsibility. For example, parents should control bedtime, homework, and dangerous situations. However, if parents do not allow any freedom, children may become afraid to make decisions. They also may stop trusting their parents and hide their problems. It is better when parents explain their rules, not just say “no” all the time. Teenagers especially need some freedom to learn from their own experience. So, being strict can be good only when it is fair, calm, and combined with love and trust.
