Birch Tree

A white birch tree beneath my window
Is covered with snow like silver.
Upon its fluffy branches,
Like a snowy border,
Little tassels bloom in white fringe.

And the birch stands in drowsy silence,
And snowflakes burn like golden fire
While dawn, lazily walking round,
Sprinkles the branches
With new silver.
