A snake is a long, legless reptile that belongs to the order Squamata, suborder Serpentes. Snakes are known for their elongated, cylindrical bodies, smooth or keeled scales, and the absence of limbs. Most snakes have a flexible jaw structure, allowing them to swallow prey much larger than their head.
