You have received a letter from your English-speaking pen friend, ...My parents want me to do music. It’s not what I really want to do but I have no choice. I’ve promised my parents to take at least 20 lessons. It means I won’t have any free time for about three months! Awful, isn’t it?... …What do you do in your free time? What kind of music do you like? What musical instrument would you like to play, if any?... Write him a letter and answer his 3 questions

Dear [Friend's name],

I’m sorry to hear that you’re feeling this way about your music lessons. It’s tough when you feel like you don’t have control over your own time. But I’m sure that, after taking the lessons, you might find that you enjoy it more than you expect. Plus, it could be a good way to bond with your parents.

As for your questions, I enjoy spending my free time in different ways. I usually like to hang out with friends, read books, watch movies, or sometimes I go for a walk in the park to relax and clear my mind. I also enjoy trying out new hobbies from time to time, depending on my mood.

When it comes to music, I like a variety of genres, but I’m especially into rock and pop music. The energy in rock songs really excites me, and pop music is fun to listen to when I want something lighthearted.

If I were to choose a musical instrument to play, I think I’d like to try playing the guitar. It sounds so cool, and I’ve always admired people who can play well. Plus, I think it would be a lot of fun to learn.

I hope this gives you an idea of what I enjoy doing in my free time. I hope your music lessons turn out to be more fun than you think!

Take care and write back soon!

Best wishes,
[Your name]
