The first selfie stick was invented to take a photo in 1925. But not many people had cameras then, so they didn't think it was important. What bad luck for the person who had this great idea! More selfie sticks were made in the 20th century but it was only in 2005 that a selfie stick was invented that lots of people liked. Its name was the 'Quik Pod' and it was invented by the Canadian Wayne Fromm. The Englishman John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich, gave his name to the sandwich. The story tells us that he ordered some meat between two slices of bread while he was playing cards in 1762. After that the snack became popular and was known as a 'sandwich'. Finally, what about potato crisps? The first recipe was published by the Englishman William Kitchiner in 1822. But later in that century George Crum, an American cook, made crisps as we know them today. People say he invented them to keep a customer happy. That was lucky too!
