• other — другой/другие перед существительным: other people, other music.

• others — другие люди или вещи, когда существительное не повторяется: Some are sleeping, others are reading.

• the other — второй из двух или конкретный другой: one kitten … the other kitten.

• the others — остальные из конкретной, уже известной группы: the others waited.

• В выражениях one another, each other, one after another слово another является частью устойчивой конструкции.
