Объяснение правила

В этом упражнении нужно правильно выбрать между прилагательным (Adjective) и наречием (Adverb).

1. Прилагательные (Adjectives)

Прилагательные обозначают признак предмета или человека и отвечают на вопрос «какой?».

Они употребляются:

  • Перед существительными: a brave man (храбрый человек), a comfortable desk (удобный стол).

  • После глагола to be: He is calm (Он спокоен).

  • После глаголов-связок look, seem, feel, smell, taste, sound, remain, если описывается состояние, качество или впечатление.

Например:

  • The dish smells good. — Блюдо хорошо пахнет.

  • The situation looks bad. — Ситуация выглядит плохой.

  • He feels bad. — Он плохо себя чувствует.

  • The fish tastes awful. — Рыба ужасная на вкус.

  • His cough sounds terrible. — Его кашель звучит ужасно.

Во всех этих предложениях употребляется прилагательное, потому что описывается предмет, человек или состояние, а не действие.

2. Наречия (Adverbs)

Наречия обозначают, как именно совершается действие, и отвечают на вопрос «как?».

Обычно они образуются добавлением суффикса -ly к прилагательному:

Прилагательное

Наречие

Перевод

angry

angrily

сердитый / сердито

brave

bravely

храбрый / храбро

clear

clearly

ясный / ясно

cold

coldly

холодный / холодно

different

differently

разный / по-разному

exact

exactly

точный / точно

comfortable

comfortably

удобный / удобно

bad

badly

плохой / плохо

dangerous

dangerously

опасный / опасно

Например:

  • She looked at me angrily. — Она сердито посмотрела на меня.

  • He behaved badly. — Он плохо себя вёл.

  • The sisters reacted differently. — Сёстры отреагировали по-разному.

  • I can see clearly. — Я могу ясно видеть.

Здесь наречия характеризуют действия: looked, behaved, reacted, see.

3. Особые случаи

Good и well

  • Good — прилагательное («хороший»).

  • Well — обычно наречие («хорошо»), но также может быть прилагательным со значением «здоровый».

Сравните:

  • He looks good. — Он хорошо выглядит.

  • He has done well in his studies. — Он хорошо учился.

  • He looks
