Correct answers:

Professor Sandelius lived with his 24-year-old daughter Carol in Topeka, in the USA. One day, something strange happened. Carol disappeared. The police looked for her everywhere. First they showed photographs to everyone in town, but nobody knew anything about her. Then they started a nationwide search, but they couldn't find her anywhere.

After eight weeks there was nothing that the police could do. Professor Sandelius was prepared to try anything to find his daughter. He had heard about Croiset and he contacted him. "Can you do anything to help?" he asked. "Maybe I can."
