Hi Ben,

Thanks for your letter. It is great news that your parents let you have a pet for your birthday!

I have got a pet. It is a cat. I think cats, dogs, hamsters and parrots can make good pets because they are friendly and interesting to watch. But it is important to choose an animal you can really look after.

Looking after my cat is not very difficult, but I have to feed it every day, give it fresh water and clean its place. I also play with it because pets need attention.

What pet would you like to have most? Do your parents like animals? Will you keep your pet in your room?

Write back soon.

Best wishes,
