The Gingerbread Man (or Kolobok)

Once upon a time, an old man and an old woman lived in a small house. One day, the old woman decided to bake a gingerbread, so she made a small round loaf and placed it in the oven. As soon as the loaf was ready, it jumped out of the oven, rolled out of the house, and began to run.

The old woman and the old man ran after it, but they couldn't catch it. The gingerbread man rolled away through the forest, singing happily.

"Run, run, as fast as you can,
You can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man!"

Soon, the gingerbread man met a rabbit, who wanted to eat him. But the gingerbread man laughed and said:

"Run, run, as fast as you can,
You can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man!"

The rabbit chased him, but the gingerbread man managed to escape. Next, he encountered a wolf, a bear, and a fox. Each of these animals also tried to catch him, but he outran them all, repeating his famous lines.

At last, the gingerbread man met a cunning fox. The fox told the gingerbread man that he could help him cross the river safely. The gingerbread man, trusting the fox, climbed onto his back. But as the fox waded deeper into the river, he suddenly snapped up the gingerbread man and ate him.

And so, the gingerbread man was gone, but his story remains famous to this day, reminding us that sometimes trusting strangers can lead to danger.
