Once baked, the kolobok escapes from the windowsill and rolls away, determined to avoid being eaten.

As the kolobok travels through the forest, he encounters various animals, including a hare, a wolf, and a bear. Each animal expresses a desire to eat him, but the clever kolobok sings a song about how he escaped from the grandparents and managed to avoid all the others. He successfully rolls away from each animal, repeating his refrain.

Finally, the kolobok meets a fox. The fox, unlike the other animals, doesn't rush to eat him but instead flatters him. She pretends not to hear his song properly and asks him to come closer and sing louder. As the kolobok gets close, the fox suddenly eats him, ending the story.

The moral of the story highlights the dangers of overconfidence and gullibility, as the kolobok's trust in the cunning fox leads to his downfall.
