What sort of competition? What did you do last week? What's your surprising news?

Notes for the email:

• Competition: Ask if it was a sports, music, art or science competition. Ask what place your friend got and how they felt.
• My news from last week: I went on a school trip, played football with my class, and started a new project in English.
• Surprising news: Our teacher chose my drawing for the school exhibition, even though I thought it was not very good.
