  1. The Russian Federation is a parliamentary monarchy.
False. The Russian Federation is not a parliamentary monarchy. It is a presidential (or constitutional) republic as established by the Constitution of 1993.

  2. The President is the head of state and is elected by the State Duma.
False. The President is the head of state, but they are not elected by the State Duma. Instead, the President is elected directly by the people in a national vote.

  3. The President is involved in the work of the legislative and judicial branches of power.
True. The President is involved in both legislative and executive branches to some extent. For example, they sign bills into law and appoint judges to key judicial positions. However, the judicial branch remains largely independent in its rulings.

  4. The government consists of the Federal Assembly and the Federation Council.
False. The government consists of three branches: the legislative, executive, and judicial. The Federal Assembly is part of the legislative branch and consists of two chambers: the Federation Council (upper house) and the State Duma (lower house).

  5. The executive power is vested in the Federal Assembly.
False. The executive power is vested in the Government, led by the Prime Minister and including various ministries and federal agencies. The Federal Assembly represents legislative power.

  6. The Federation Council is elected by popular vote.
False. The Federation Council is not elected by popular vote. It is composed of representatives appointed from the legislative and executive authorities of each federal subject (region) of Russia.

  7. The Federation Council is formed of the heads of the regions.
Partially True. The Federation Council includes representatives from each federal subject, typically one from the regional legislative body and one from the executive authority (such as governors or their appointees). These members are not necessarily the heads of the regions but are appointed by them.

  8. Each Chamber of the Federation Council is checked and balanced by the President.
False. The chambers of the Federal Assembly (State Duma and Federation Council) are not directly "checked and balanced" by the President. However, the President can influence the legislative process, for example, by vetoing bills or dissolving the Duma in specific circumstances.

  9. The legislative power is represented by the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court, and regional courts.
False. Legislative power in Russia is represented by the Federal Assembly, which consists of the Federation Council and the State Duma. The Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court, and regional courts are part of the judicial branch, not the legislative branch.

  10. The Russian Federation was set up by the Constitution of 1991.
False. The Russian Federation was established by the Constitution of 1993. The 1991 date refers to the dissolution of the Soviet Union, not the establishment of the current political system.

Summary:

The statements about the Russian political system have several inaccuracies. The Russian Federation operates as a presidential republic under the 1993 Constitution, with a clear separation of legislative, executive, and judicial powers, though the President has significant influence over all branches.
