Dialog 1.

Speaker1 : Are you alright? You look tired.

1. had just gone — The past perfect simple используется для выражения действия, которое произошло до другого действия в прошлом.

   Пример: "I had just gone to sleep last night when a lot of noise woke me up."

2. had been standing — В данном случае мы используем past perfect continuous, потому что действие продолжалось в течение некоторого времени, когда произошло другое событие.

   Пример: "I had been standing there for a few minutes when two police cars stopped outside my house."

3. had escaped — Это действие произошло до того, как рассказчик узнал о ситуации. Опять же, используется past perfect simple.

   Пример: "I went downstairs and a policeman told me that two prisoners had escaped from prison and were hiding in the area."

Exercise №2

1. had been standing — В этом предложении используется past perfect continuous, так как действие (стояние) продолжалось в течение дня.

   Пример: "Julia wanted to sit down as she had been standing at work all day long."

2. had decorated — Здесь используется past perfect simple, потому что действие произошло до того, как дети пришли.

   Пример: "They had decorated the New Year tree before the children arrived."

3. had eaten up — Past perfect simple, так как действие завершилось до другого события.

   Пример: "Bob had eaten up all the muffins by lunchtime."

4. had been doing — Мы используем past perfect continuous, потому что действие происходило в течение времени.

   Пример: "My sister had been doing the laundry since early morning."

5. had been growing — В данном случае past perfect continuous, так как процесс был длительным.

   Пример: "I knew that our parents had been growing melons in their greenhouse since they bought the house."

Exercise №3

1. had been listening — Здесь идет речь о действии, которое происходило в течение трех часов до того, как наступило другое событие (боль в голове).

   Пример: "My head hurt because I had been listening to music for three hours."

   had been listening — Для второго предложения нужно также использовать past perfect continuous, потому что действие (слушание новостей) длилось в течение времени.

   Пример: "I knew the names of the robbers because I had been listening to the news on TV."

2. had been building — Используется past perfect continuous, так как действие строить школу продолжалось, и потом случилось другое событие (землетрясение).

   Пример: "They had been building a new school for six months when there was an earthquake."

   had built — Здесь past perfect simple, так как они закончили строить новый блок до декабря.

   Пример: "They had built a new block of flats by December."
