Hi everyone! I am Carla Alvares from Brazil. I have been working at a secondary school for two years as an English teacher. But there is a challenge I am struggling with. The classes I am working with are rather crowded. A large number of students in the classroom creates a lot of disturbance and stress for both the class and the teacher. I find it extremely difficult to manage the class and engage all the students in learning. I understand that there is still a lot to learn, as I am a very young professional. I will be very grateful if someone can help me and give some advice.

Hi Carla,

I completely understand your struggle, as managing a crowded classroom can be quite challenging. Here are two pieces of advice that might help you create a more structured and engaging learning environment.

First, try implementing clear classroom rules and routines. At the beginning of each lesson, set clear expectations for behavior and participation. You can even involve students in creating these rules so they feel responsible for maintaining order. Consistency is key—if students know what is expected from them and what consequences follow misbehavior, they will be more likely to stay engaged.

Second, consider using interactive teaching strategies that keep students involved. Group activities, pair work, and competitions can help maintain students' attention while reducing disruption. Dividing the class into smaller groups and assigning them specific tasks can also help manage noise levels and improve cooperation.

I hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,
