My holiday
Last summer, I went on holiday with my family. We went to Mull, in the Hebrides. The Hebrides are the islands off the west coast of Scotland. The island of Mull is very beautiful and people go there to hike (walk) and to see the wildlife: sharks, whales and sea eagles. We had a wonderful time! We took a boat trip and saw three whales and many seals. We climbed some big hills and we visited an old castle. We ate some wonderful meals of many nationalities, but an Italian restaurant was the best! On a visit to the capital Tobermory, we spotted the famous Tobermory cat — a beautiful ginger tom cat who has his own Facebook page. He came up to me and I tickled his ears. I had my photograph taken with him. On our last day, we went hill-walking, hoping to see an eagle. We walked slowly along a narrow path on a hilltop. Suddenly, my dad shouted, «Look up, an eagle!» A huge bird flew directly over our heads. I looked up, then disaster! I slipped on some mud and fell down. I could not get up. My leg hurt so much! Luckily, we had our mobiles. My dad rang for an ambulance, but of course, an ambulance could not reach us. Twenty minutes later, we heard a whirring noise. A helicopter came! It picked us up and took me to hospital on the mainland. My leg was broken. The doctor put a plaster cast on it. I wore the cast for six weeks. So, I had a bad experience, but overall, an incredible Scottish holiday — including a free ride in a helicopter! By Elena, aged 14.
